About SCCAP

Mission

Building stronger, healthier communities and empowering families that experience economic and social challenges through strategic partnerships, education, services and compassion.

Schoharie County Community Action Program, Inc. (SCCAP), a non-profit human service organization; serving Schoharie County residents since 1965 - over 56 years!

SCCAP is part of a nationwide network of 1,000+ agencies and one of 49 in New York State incorporated to address the causes of poverty. Programs administered under SCCAP’s umbrella focus on addressing the barriers families face while seeking to overcome economic instability. SCCAP’s primary goal has not changed in 56 years. An evolving base of programs, services and wrap-around supports such as energy reduction measures, child care resource and referral, health and nutrition, access to health insurance, free tax preparation, employment and training, family support and resources, mentors, supervised visitation and more provide a comprehensive system of support. SCCAP and its community partners collaborate through advocacy, referrals and coordinated service delivery with the goal of moving families towards economic security. Community Action believes an investment in families is an investment in community.
